Julia Lam is in the market for
a nursing bra
What's the best brand out there? I'm looking for bras that are comfy enough to wear at night, and also those for daytime that have a nice shape. Also, is it true that I shouldn't be buying bras until the last month of pregnancy - for fit reasons?

Heather Laughlin: You definitely should wait as long as you can, however, I got my first nursing comfy bras around month 7 because I was so uncomfortable in my regular ones. I haven't worn my regular bras since. Nursing bras are pretty forgiving since they don't have underwire. So- if you feel ready, try one out. So...here are my recommendations after trying LOTS of them!Day Time: Birth and Baby Sleep Bra- actually prefer this one for the daytime. I ordered it from Amazon. It has no underwire, but is cut in a way that gives you more support and "easy access" with a deep V. I also really like the Motherhood Maternity snap-down racerback "sports bra". They are all really like sports bras because they don't have underwire. I also have a few semi-ruglar bras from Motherhood Maternity that have snap down tops, but I don't find myself putting those on much. I have a few "pretty" nursing bras with underwire that I got before I had Jason...used one once...never again. It was uncomfortable and inconvenient. Night Time: Motherhood Maternity Wrap Nursing Bra- the BEST most comfortable sleep bra. Very lightweight and comfy. Its a deep V and made out of t-shirt jersey type material. I really recommend these because you end up sleeping in a bra everynight in order to wear nursing pads to keep from leaking...everywhere! Its tons of fun. =) I tried a few others, including the Medela and Lamaze sleep bra---but they were too restrictive and uncomfortable to sleep in. I gave them to Goodwill to make room for the ones I like. I also really like the Motherhood Maternity sleeveless clipdown double opening nursing cami. I have one in every color. It basically has a built in bra...and is super easy access!So...there it is...my trial and error picks for nursing bras. Good luck!!22 months ago

Alice Tam: Don't spend too much on nursing bras because your size will fluctuate. I like the Gillian & OMalley bras at Target. For the sleep bras, I like the Motherhood Maternity wrap nursing sleep bras too. They are so comfortable, I still wear them now. No underwires because they can cause issues with plugged ducts and those are painful! A lot of times it's just trial and error. I hope you will be blessed with an abundance of milk unlike me. :( I had to drink all sorts of concoctions to try to boost my production! Good luck!22 months ago
